This is definetly one of those cases where less is more.
The shot has a great simplicity to it. It is very easy to just go naked snap the shot post and get saying yeah its great, love it, want more. It is not so easy to tempt an tease the viewer without actually showing anything. The lovely line of hair acts like a guide to where a lot of the viewres want to go but the border of the photograph acts like a high solid fence. You know there is something on the other side of the fence but there is no way you will get past it. A lot of people will walk away but those who really appreciate the communication of a good image will sit down at the fence and use their imagination to continue following that guideline and paint in what they believe to be beyond that boundary.
The image is challanging not just by the fact that it only allows you a limited field of view but also the fact that the model has body hair. It challenges the homogenised media image of the body.
The lighting is good, the highlights, low lights and shadows give proper topographic releif to the figure it shows that the figure has dimension to it. It shows a beautiful athletic figure and there we see part of the contradiction of the photograph. We have a beautiful athletic figure which the media tells us is so desirabble but we have body hair which the media seems to have taken to revieling.
all in all we have a picture that should make people stop and think about what they are looking at.
